Medical Terminology (25 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato
This class will introduce students to the meaning of medical terms and their pronunciation. This will give students a better understanding of word origins and how they relate to anatomy and physiology.
 
Fundamental Anatomy (45 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato
This class covers the basics of anatomy. Students will be introduced to the skeletal system, anatomical landmarks and the structures and movements of  joints. This class will conclude with palpatory skills as they relate to massage therapy.
 
Physiology (30 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato
Explanation of the systems of the body and how they function will be the emphasis of this introductory class. Highlighted during the first chapters are chemical, cellular and tissue organizational levels of the body. 
 
History of Massage (8 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato
This class will place emphasis on the founders of massage therapy. We will discuss different massage modalities and those who have helped to develop and shape our profession.
 
Swedish Massage Theory (35 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato
Students will learn basic techniques and procedures of a Swedish/relaxation massage routine. During this class students will start to shape their personal massage style.
 
Swedish Massage Practicum (35 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato
In this class students will demonstrate the massage techniques learned. Much focus will be given to proper body mechanics for the client as well as the student.
 
Fundamentals of Professional Practice (20 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato
Students will focus their studies on the topics of  hygiene, sanitation, draping and the proper use of equipment and supplies. This class will also cover proper body mechanics, injury prevention and safe and appropriate communication.
 
Massage Indications and Contraindications  (20 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato
In this class students will learn about common musculo-skeletal ailments resulting from repetitive stress injuries or chronic inflammation. We will also discuss areas of caution, when to refer out as well as site specific contraindications.
 
Intro to Energy work and the 7 Chakras  (7 clock hrs)
Instructor: Lexie Zuzga
Students will be introduced to several energy work therapies and balancing the 7 chakras. This class will encourage students to start developing their own intrinsic healing talents.
 
Professional Ethics (10 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato
This class will provide students professional approaches to ethical decision making. Moral codes and conduct in the massage profession will be discussed.
 
 
Term 2

Human Physiology part 1 (40 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato
This class will introduce the special senses and the autonomic nervous system. Motor and integrative systems will also be included.
 
Musculo-Skeletal Anatomy part 1 (40 clock hrs)
Instructor: Lexie Zuzga
Students will focus on specific muscle groups and their attachments to bony landmarks as well as the nerve innervation. This class is an in depth study of the muscular system and will help students gain confidence in palpatory skills and muscle identification.
 
Kinesiology (45 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato
Defined as the scientific study of muscle activity, in this class we will discuss the anatomy, physiology and mechanics of movement in the body. This class will give students a better understanding of muscle structure and function as well as treating repetitive stress injuries and sprain/strain.
 
The Fundamentals of Therapeutic Massage part 1  (50 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato
Therapeutic massage consists of manipulating soft tissue structures of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasms and stress. Students will learn various massage modalities and how to improve the rate at which the body heals from injury and illness. This knowledge is a necessity when practicing in a professional environment.
 
Pathology (25 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato
Students will be introduced to the study of disease and how it relates to massotherapy. At the end of the course students will have the ability to identify different diseases and their indications and contraindications for massage.
 
Hydrotherapy (10 clock hrs)
Instructor: Lexie Zuzga
This class will discuss the benefits of water when used in conjunction with massage therapy. Students will learn several applications of hydrotherapy with the use of hot (warm compresses, foot bath) and cold ( ice packs, cold stone facial) temperatures and when each is appropriate.
 
Intro to Sports Massage (15 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato
A special form of massage that is typically used before, during and after athletic events. Students will learn how to prepare athletes for peek performance, by reducing muscle tension and fatigue, relieve swelling and promote flexibility.
 
Massage Clinic ( 25 clock hrs)
Instructor: Lexie Zuzga
The student clinic is scheduled around class time so that students can experience massage therapy in a professional and competent manor. Students will compile medical histories and complete soap notes on each client. The feelings, needs and expectations of clients will also be addressed.
 
 
Term 3 (250 hrs)
 
 
 
Human Physiology part 2 (45 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato
Students will continue to study the major systems of the body. Focus will be on balances and imbalances within the endocrine, cardiovascular, and lymphatic systems.
 
Musculo-Skeletal Anatomy part 2 (45 clock hrs)
Instructor: Lexie Zuzga
The focus of this class will continue to be on specific muscle groups. Students will be able to identify attachment points and become confident in muscular and structural assessment.
 
Fundamentals of Therapeutic Massage part 2 (70 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato, Lexie Zuzga, various guest speakers
In this class students will continue to explore different therapeutic massage modalities including aromatherapy, prenatal massage, trigger point therapy and acupressure. At this time we will also welcome guest speakers to lecture on a massage field of their specialty. Students will have the opportunity to work hands on with professionals and gain helpful knowledge that will prepare them for a future career in the profession.
 
Professional Ethics part 2 (15 clock hrs)

Students will continue to explore ethics in the massage field. We will discuss sample scenarios and how to confidently and professionally deal with each situation.
 
Hot Stone Therapy (15 clock hrs)
Instructor: Lexie Zuzga
This class will teach students how to use warm basalt stones as an extension of their hand. This is a therapeutic treatment that improves circulation and helps relax tired and sore muscles. Students will also review hydrotherapy techniques and indications and contraindications.
 
Business and Marketing (25 clock hrs)
Instructor: Augie D'Amato, Lexie Zuzga
In this class students will learn both fundamental and technical concepts of business and how to confidently execute creative ideas in the field of massotherapy. Students will also practice communication skills as well as resume building and becoming a successful entrepreneur.
 
Introduction to Eastern Philosophies (10 clock hrs)
Instructor: Lexie Zuzga
This class will discuss massage therapy as related to eastern cultures. Focus will be on treating common ailments holistically and how to keep balance within the body through meditation, diet and massage modalities such as ayervedic massage, cupping and shiatsu.
